Oh but the view...

Okay, so earlier I mentioned that our apartment is less than fabulous. Honestly it is, but check this out. Below is a picture of our view. This really makes up for all the other short comings. This is what I get to wake up to every morning!

On another note, today was pretty stressful. We shipped my car to Hawaii. I have officially sent the following to a place I've never even seen:

a) all our house hold goods/furniture

b) 90% of my clothes

c) my car

Not only have I sent all these things to Hawaii but the only address on the shipping slip is -Kapolei, HI. What?! How in the world will I ever find my things? I am not in a happy place today.

Bye, car...hope to see you again.

Okay, here goes nothing! I’ve decided to start a blog, and you’ll have to be patient because I really don’t know what I’m doing. This also probably isn’t a great idea considering my grammar skills are seriously lacking, I can’t spell, and don’t think it will be that interesting. I just figured this would be a great way to keep friends and family in the loop.

I guess I should start with how we got to this point. Well, I married a Coast Guard C-130 pilot (I would like to add that I thought he was a lawyer) and moved to Elizabeth City, NC over 3 years ago. I may have mixed up the order of how that all happened, but I find it irrelevant :). Edward’s tours of duty are 4 years long so we knew that our time in North Carolina was up. We made our wish list and were told that we were either going to Alaska or Hawaii. Hallelujah we got Hawaii, it would be really difficult to get excited about heading to the tundra. Edward actually lived on Oahu (island in Hawaii we are moving to) growing up a navy brat, but I’ve never been and honestly don’t know what to expect. Will it be fruity drinks and beautiful sunsets or massive Samoan women and terrible road rage? We’ll see...

So, obviously we aren’t in Hawaii yet. I’m trying to get there, trust me. We’ve had to sell our house, our boat (pretty emotional for Edward), and hopefully Edward’s truck (should be easy since gas is $10 a gallon- right?). We are currently living in a one bedroom apartment that is the size of a suite at the Hampton Inn. I’m afraid I just made it sound a little too luxurious. Anyway, I believe this apartment is the step before people go into assisted living because the average occupant’s age is 100. I am also still working even though my replacement has started, thus leaving me completely unoccupied for 8 hours a day, five days a week, for the next FOUR weeks. I thought this would be a great time to start blogging.

Our precious house in Elizabeth City, NC. I might miss it the most.

Good times in the boat - Nice hair Edward!
